We didn't have much time
這段就是講Deep Purple在錄製Machine Head這張專輯的故事。他們租用了滾石樂隊的Mobile Studio，沿著 日內瓦 湖開往最北邊的Montreux。
Frank Zappa and Mothers
Were at the best place around
But some stupid with a flare gub
Burn thr place to the ground
這段是講Frank Zappa和Mothers of Invention正在Montreux Casino Theatre演出，這是這個劇院冬季裝修前的最後一場演出，隨後Deep Purple可以在那裡錄歌。演出過程中，有個Stupid的樂迷用自己的信號槍打了一發，打到了屋頂的易燃物導致整個賭場失火，演出被迫終止。沒有了錄製專輯的地方，難怪會說那個樂迷Stupid

就是講湖邊賭場燃燒的場景
They burned down the gambling house
It died with a awfuk sound
Funky Claude was running in and out
Pulling kids out the ground
Gambling House就是指Casino，Claude是這個Montreux Jass Festival的導演，進進出出救孩子，沒有人員傷亡，但是Mothers樂隊的很多設備被毀了。
When it all was over
We had to find another place
But Swiss time was running out
It seems that we should lose the race
一切都結束了，Deep Purple必須找到新的地方錄音，但是他們在 瑞士 的時間用完了，恐怕會輸掉比賽。開頭就說了，他們錄這張專輯沒有多少時間。

We ended up at the Grand Hotel
It was empty cold and bare
But with the Rolling truck Stones thing just outside
Making our music there
他們找了一周地方，終於在Grand Hotel的一個角落找到了錄音的地方，那啥也沒有，12月又冷，他們把滾石錄音車的設備搬出來臨時搭建了錄音棚，完成了Machine Head大部分歌，成了商業上相當 成功 的專輯。
With a few red light and a few cold beds
We make a place to sweat
No matter what we get out of this
I know we'll nevet forget
很不容易，不會忘記在這兒錄製專輯。
