↑箭牌大廈 a luminous white beacon known the world over as a beloved symbol of Chicago’s preeminence in architecture and commerce. It was modeled after the Seville Cathedral's Giralda Tower in Spain,and it has 250,000 white terra cotta tiles on it, which is why it's so white.

論壇報大廈，1922年由豪 厄爾 斯和胡德設計（Howells & Hood），是一座典型的哥特式建築。In 1922, on the occasion of its 75th anniversary, the Chicago Tribune announced an international competition for a new downtown headquarters.1922年，正值箭牌公司的75周年慶，公司發佈了一條國際競賽邀約建築師為他們在 芝加哥 的中心修建一棟總部大樓，要建成世界上最美的大廈。10萬美元的獎勵金，其中一半會獎勵給最後的獲獎者。

The competition sought, "...for Chicago, the most beautiful building in the world. A total of $100,000 in prize money was offered with a $50,000 prize for the winner. More than 260 entries from 23 countries, and a place in history as one of the largest, and most important architectural competitions in America—this is the legacy of the Tribune Tower. 論壇報大廈的頂仿照 法國 魯昂 主教座堂（Rouen Cathedral）的頂修建，（Rouen Cathedral也稱為 魯昂 聖母主教座堂），受到中世紀哥特式建築物的啟發，是一棟融合了 歐洲 傳統和 美國 現代建築風格的建築物（an integration of European Traditional styles with Modern American Architecture）;也是一棟很私人的建築物，可以說是Col. Robert McCormick的一座紀念碑，Robert是該報的編輯很喜歡收集戰場上的石塊，隨著在第一次而世界大戰戰場上收集石塊後，他還收集了全世界各地名勝的石塊，並將這些石塊鑲嵌在建築的外牆上，大家在牆上尋找石頭碎片的好奇心和找到之後的滿足感，也是這棟建築除了大廈自身的建築風格外，另一個引人註目之處。

如今論壇報大廈的牆體上展示著來自世界各地的130餘塊建築碎片。例如： 美國 白宮的磚塊， 埃及 金字塔的石塊、泰姬陵的石塊、 愛丁堡 的石塊等、9·11事件中倒塌的世貿中心的殘骸。此外，論壇報大廈的一扇櫥窗內還展示著阿波羅15號飛船從月球帶回的岩石，之所以沒有將其鑲嵌在牆內是因為NASA不允許這麼做。

its sheer size-4 million square feet of floor space. It was the largest building in the world when it opened in 1930. It is filled with shops and office space but is fun to just walk through.
